| I soon realized that my strip's point of view was a little too countercultural for the dailies. Underground newspapers might be a friendlier environment, I decided. Invited to draw cover art for a startup Birmingham hippie paper called Fool, I sensed an opening and drew a full-page strip that placed my pointy-haired character in a surreal world that included a mysterious entity called Glory who made a giant frog materialize from underneath my protagonist's bed.
This reconceived Barefootz would have debuted in Fool's second issue, had there been one. But there wasn't. |
