"Purchaser's Clearing House"

"Purchaser's Clearing House" is my illustrated version of a song I wrote back in 1976 in collaboration with an Alabama songwriter named Michael Lantrip, who was writing in this instance under the name "Marty Lyles." Mike wrote the tune; the words are mine.

Obviously, the target of its satire is a certain magazine-hawking direct-mail sweepstakes operation that has been dangling huge fortunes in all of our faces for decades.

The song has never been commercially released, but you can hear Mike singing it (accompanied by my drawings) by clicking on this link.

My comic strip version was first published in Anything Goes, a 1986 benefit comic produced by Fantagraphics to raise money for its defense fund in a lawsuit.
