Words Fail Me

There’s something deeply bizarre to this whole Health Care affair, and seeing Ted Kennedy’s seat fall to a Republican is just one more weird aspect of it. Yeah, Words fail me is an apt way to sum it up.
Well, Howard, words do not fail me in this situation but I have too much to say and too little time to write. As usual, I’m afraid the Democrats will draw the wrong conclusion from this particular convoluted episode. It’s a wake-up call, that’s for sure. Our congress should bite the bullet and do what we elected them to do—stop the wars, get a good (or at least OK) health care bill passed, etc. As far as Scott is concerned, the Republicans may win this particular battle but I predict they will loose the war. That’s all for now—gotta go write music!
1. FEAR MAKES PEOPLE DO STUPID THINGS; THE AMERICAN WORKING CLASSES (BLUE-, PINK-, WHITE-COLLAR THROUGH UPPER MIDDLE-CLASSES) ARE VERY AFRAID RIGHT NOW.
2. A CANDIDATE WHO MAKES CLEAR SHE DOES NOT CARE TO REACH OUT TO VOTERS, TO PUT HERSELF OUT FOR THEIR VOTES IS NOT A DESIREABLE CANDIDATE (NOT FOR THE PARTY AND, MORE IMPORTANGTLY, NOT FOR THE ELECTORATE)
3. A PARTY IN POWERE THAT DEMONSTRATES - THROUGH IT’S EXERCISE OF THAT POWER - DISORDER, INCOMPETENCE, SELF-REGARD AND ASSUMED ENTITLEMENT OVER ORDER, COMPETENCE, REGARD FOR VOTERS AND SENSE OF OBLIGATION TO VOTERS OVER OBLIGATION TO ITSELF IS A PARTY UNLIKELY TO RETAIN THAT POWER THROUGH ELECTIONS.
HAVE I MISSED ANYTHING?
P.S.: #1 (FEAR) INFORMS AND FUELS A GOOD PART OF VOTER RESPONSE TO #2 AND #3. ON THE WHOLE, PEOPLE COMMIT TO THEIR IDEALS MOST RELIABLY WHEN THEY ARE OPERATING FROM WHAT THEY PERCEIVE AS A SECURE BASE. ABSENT A SECURE BASE, THE VOTE TO SECURE THAT BASE (AS THEY SEE IT).
THAT IS - FEAR RULES.
