First I draw the drawing that I plan to color, of course. At present I usually do this the old-fashioned way: by applying a pen to paper.

I used a #1 Rotring Rapidograph for this dog drawing, but you can use any tool you wish to draw your pictures with, including a shoe-polish applicator, if that turns you on. Once you've scanned your art, it will be made of pixels just like mine.
